RNA was extracted from the spinal cord samples using the SV total RNA isolation system (Promega, UK). RNA quantification was performed using a Nanodrop ND-1000 spectrophotometer and quality was checked using the Agilent bioanalyser system (Agilent).

cRNA labeling was performed with 750 ng of pooled RNA, using the Ambion Total Prep kit. cRNA purity and labelling was checked using the Nanodrop and Agilent bioanalyser.
