COMMENT REVIEWED REFSEQ: This record has been curated by NCBI staff. The
reference sequence was derived from AF049105.1, AF022655.1 and
AL037087.2.
Summary: This gene encodes a core centrosomal protein required for
centriole-centriole cohesion during interphase of the cell cycle.
The encoded protein dissociates from the centrosomes when parental
centrioles separate at the beginning of mitosis. The protein
associates with and is phosphorylated by NIMA-related kinase 2,
which is also associated with the centrosome. Alternately spliced
transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been
described.
Transcript Variant: This variant (2) lacks an alternate exon,
compared to variant 1, but maintains the reading frame. The
resulting protein (isoform 2) is shorter than isoform 1.
