HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: ANKRD37
Cytogenetic location: 4q35.1 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 4:185,396,841-185,400,723 (from NCBI)
ANKRD37 contains 4 ankyrin (see 612641) repeat domains, which are typically involved in protein-protein interactions and in signaling pathways (Li et al., 2005).
Li et al. (2005) cloned ANKRD37, which they called LRP2BP, from a human fetal brain cDNA library. The deduced 158-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 16.9 kD and contains 4 ankyrin repeat domains and 5 phosphorylation sites. RT-PCR detected LRP2BP expression mainly in human testis, small intestine, colon, and blood leukocytes. Epitope-tagged LRP2BP localized to both cytoplasm and nucleus of transfected HEK293 cells. ANKRD37 orthologs were identified in chimpanzee, mouse, rat, and frog.
Li et al. (2005) determined that the ANKRD37 gene contains 5 exons and spans 3.5 kb.
By genomic sequence analysis, Li et al. (2005) mapped the LRP2BP gene to chromosome 4q35.
Although Li et al. (2005) referred to ANKRD37 as LRP2BP, ANKRD37 is distinct from the LRP2BP gene (619020).
