Enables plus-end-directed microtubule motor activity. Involved in anterograde axonal transport; neuromuscular synaptic transmission; and neuron-neuron synaptic transmission. Acts upstream of or within mitochondrion transport along microtubule. Located in cytoplasmic vesicle membrane and mitochondrion. Part of microtubule associated complex. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; brain; genitourinary system; limb segment; and skeletal musculature. Used to study Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2A1. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2A1; carcinoma (multiple); multiple sclerosis; neuroblastoma; and pheochromocytoma.
