Enables chromatin binding activity. Acts upstream of or within cellular response to leukemia inhibitory factor and cellular response to retinoic acid. Located in nuclear body and sex chromatin. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; genitourinary system; hemolymphoid system; nervous system; and sensory organ. Used to study dilated cardiomyopathy and tetralogy of Fallot. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in primary autosomal recessive microcephaly 11.
