Summary
This gene is involved in trans-splicing (PMID 20816665) with a functional gene on chromosome 19, Dmrt1 (Dsx- and Mab3-related transcription factor-1), which plays a role in male sexual development. Dmr mainly forms the 3' UTR in the resulting transcript and provides a stop codon, resulting in a truncated Dmrt1 protein. Trans-splicing involving this gene is suggested to serve as a mechanism of negative regulation of Dmrt1 function. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
