Stage III serous ovarian adenocarcinomas

Analysis of stage III ovarian serous papillary adenocarcinomas from 5-year survivors and deceased patients. Ovarian carcinoma is often not detected until an advanced stage. Results provide insight into gene expression patterns associated with survival that could have prognostic relevance.

Stage III serous ovarian adenocarcinomas

(Submitter supplied) The clinical outcome for patients with ovarian cancer is difficult to predict. However, the use of biomarkers as additional prognostic factors may improve the outcome for these patients. In order to find novel candidate biomarkers, differences in gene expressions were analyzed in 54 stage III serous ovarian adenocarcinomas with oligonucleotide microarrays containing 27,000 unique probes. The microarray data was verified with quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction for the genes TACC1, MUC5B and PRAME. more...

Gene expression profiles of serous ovarian cancer samples

(Submitter supplied) To elucidate the mechanisms of rapid progression of serous ovarian cancer, gene expression profiles from forty-three ovarian cancer tissues comprising eight early stage and thirty-five advanced stage tissues were performed using oligonucleotide microarrays of 18,716 genes. By non-negative matrix factorization analysis using 178 genes, which were extracted as stage-specific genes, 35 advanced-stage cases were classified into two subclasses with superior (n = 17) and poor (n = 18) outcome evaluated by progression-free survival (logrank test, p = 0.03). more...

SE2Fs Mediate A Fundamental Cell Cycle Deregulation in High-Grade Serous Ovarian Carcinomas

(Submitter supplied) Several studies described a role for the E2F/Rb pathway in ovarian serous carcinomas (SCAs). Since E2F/Rb pathway deregulation is a general hallmark of human cancer, it remains unclear whether this deregulation is of particular importance in SCAs or whether it reflects a common oncologic feature. Here, we attempted to clarify this issue by the examination of microarray expression profiles of SCAs (10 SCA1s, 15 SCA3s) and particularly by the comparison with another, less malignant, ovarian cancer type, serous borderline tumours (13 SBTs). more...

Gene expression data from non-malignant fallopian tube epithelium and high grade serous carcinoma.

(Submitter supplied) The purpose of this study was to identify molecular alterations potentially involved in predisposition to adnexal serous carcinoma (SerCa) in the non-malignant fallopian tube epithelium (FTE) of BRCA1/2-mutation carriers, given recent evidence implicating the distal FTE as a common source for SerCa. DNA profiling of serous ovarian and Fallopian tube carcinomas with array CGH and MLPA

(Submitter supplied) Primary serous ovarian carcinoma (OVCA) and serous Fallopian tube carcinoma (FTC), both belonging to the BRCA-linked tumour spectrum, share many properties and are treated similarly. However, a detailed molecular comparison has been lacking. We hypothesized that comparative genomic studies of serous OVCAs and FTCs should point to gene regions critically involved in their tumorigenesis. Array comparative genomic hybridization (array CGH) analysis indicated that serous OVCAs and serous FTCs displayed common but also more distinctive patterns of recurrent changes. more...
