Mouse brain region gene expression (430 2.0 Array)

(Submitter supplied) Gene expression patterns were determined from five brain regions (bed nucleus of the stria terminalis, hippocampus, hypothalamus, periaqueductal gray, and pituitary gland) in six mouse strains (129S6/SvEvTac, A/J, C57BL/6J, C3H/HeJ, DBA/2J, and FVB/NJ). Strains for eQTL CNV Analysis

(Submitter supplied) Background Haplotype association mapping is a recently developed method that can be used to identify expression Quantitative Trait Loci (eQTLs). The underlying genomic structure of the haplotype can be defined by single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), variable number tandem repeats (VNTRs) and copy number variations (CNVs). Microarray genotyping platforms are able to interrogate all three genomic polymorphisms simultaneously. more...

Pathway analysis of expression QTL data in fat identifies a role for cyclin H in oxidative phosphorylation

(Submitter supplied) Genome-wide gene expression profiling has been extensively used to generate biological hypotheses based on differential expression. Recently, many studies have used microarrays to measure gene expression levels across genetic mapping populations. These gene expression phenotypes have been used for genome-wide association analyses, an analysis referred to as expression QTL (eQTL) mapping. Here, eQTL analysis was performed in fat issue from 28 inbred strains of mice. more...

Expression QTL mapping of Toxoplasma gondii genes, Tachyzoite array

(Submitter supplied) Toxoplasma gondii is an intracellular parasite with a significant impact on human health, especially in cases where individuals are immunocompromised (e.g., due to HIV/AIDS). In Europe and North America only a few clonal genotypes appear to be responsible for the vast majority of Toxoplasma infections, and these clonotypes have been intensely studied to identify strain-specific phenotypes that may play a role in the manifestation of more severe disease. more...

Regulation of Gene Expression and Parent-of-Origin Effects in Maize Hybrids

(Submitter supplied) Heterosis (hybrid vigor) refers to the superior performance of hybrid progeny relative to their parents. Although widely exploited in agriculture, the mechanisms responsible for heterosis are not well understood. As a monoecious organism, a given maize plant can be used as both male and female parents of crosses. Regardless of the cross direction, the maize inbred lines B73 and Mo17 produce hybrids that substantially out-perform their parents. more...

Genetic variability of transcript abundance in pig peri-mortem skeletal muscle: eQTL localized genes involved in stress response, cell death, muscle disorders and metabolism.

(Submitter supplied) BACKGROUND: The genetics of transcript-level variation is an exciting field that has recently given rise to many studies. Genetical genomics studies have mainly focused on cell lines, blood cells or adipose tissues, from human clinical samples or mice inbred lines. Few eQTL studies have focused on animal tissues sampled from outbred populations to reflect natural genetic variation of gene expression levels in animals. more...
