Public Note for CCDS 21348.1
The coding region has been updated to extend the N-terminus. The use of an alternative upstream start codon would result in a protein that is 266 aa longer and changes the protein length from 498 aa to 764 aa. There is also a well conserved downstream AUG, that has a strong Kozak signal in mouse, and results in an additional N-terminal 8 amino acids when compared to human homolog NP_001035704.1. The uAUG has a weak Kozak signal and appears to be only conserved in mouse, rat and dog, while the dAUG shows much better conservation. This means that the downstream AUG, which would produce a 756 aa protein, may also be used due to leaky scanning.
